Hi forum

This is my first post. I hope someone can be of help.

I am a Canadian PR currently in India (south) since 2 months. My status as PR is OK.. I have been dating this girl for 5 years and we want to get married. Problem is her parents are not agreeing. So we have decided to run away and get married.

The problem is that it takes a long time to sponsor my GF and for that I have to be in Canada. i will not aand cannot leave her alone during this time. I need to bring her to Canada for the first few months just to be safe after which she can come back to india. What are my options here???

Can i apply for tourist visa? Can I explain to the embassy to grant a special case since there is difference in religion and culture and her parents might not take kindly to us getting married.

thanks for your time and i hope someone can help me . what i need is a quick way to bring her to canada and my case is genuine. i can provide proof to embassy showing why parents will not agree and why our life can be in danger

Yes - she can certainly apply for a tourist visa. Unfortunately there is no special grant process. To have the highest chance of being approved, she should include as much evidence as possible in her application that demonstrates she has strong ties to her home country (e.g. proof of employment, proof of school enrollment, proof of property ownership, etc.).

Note that you won't be able to sponsor her until you are either married or common law (have lived together for at least one full year).

They do say that once you are married, it is harder for the spouse (your wife) to get a tourist visa, because they will think that she might want to stay in Canada illegally to be with you.

So best apply now for a tourist visa for her before you are married. (You could get married in Canada too, I guess.) When applying for a visa, I would not mention that she has problems with her family and her safety is at risk, because then CIC will believe that she will not leave Canada. Try to show that she has many reasons to go back to India. Is it possible for her to enroll in school? Get a letter from her employer saying she has vacation for xx days, and she is expected back at work on dd/mm/yy? Anything that shows that she wants to, and needs to, go back to India after visiting Canada.

Of course, once she gets the tourist visa and once she is in Canada, she can apply for an extension and stay longer. She can apply for an extension online and it is a fairly easy process. She needs to show proof of funds for her stay (can be her own money, or yours, or a join account). I assume by that time you will be married and getting ready to apply for her PR. Also, she can apply for Outland PR even if she is in Canada. (Outland is usually much much faster than Inland.) It's ok to put a Canadian residential address and mailing address. The only thing is, she should make sure to extend her tourist visa so that she is here legally.

Only if she has been admitted to that country for at least a year (e.g. she has citizenship or permanent residency in that country, or has entered on a visa that allows a long-term stay like a work permit or study permit).

If she is able to get a TRV, you can also sponsor her from within Canada.

I believe so. I went to the states for spring break one year just to find out my Canadian study permit expired. I applied for a new study permit there and I was only there for a week before I applying. Just make sure you have with you all the required documents.
