Sponsoring wife. Her Passport expiring in May 2017.

Hi all,

I'm about to submit the INLAND spousal sponsorship application for my wife. (Sponsorship + permanent residence + OWP).

She is currently living with me in Canada. She has a work permit that expires on MAY 2017. Her passport also expires in May 2017.

If we submit the application in December. Can she get the OWP before May 2017? My main concern is her passport expiring on May 2017.

To make it easy, you'll want to renew her passport before sending in the application. OWPs are only good for 2 years or as long as the passport is valid--so if they did issue it, it'd also be good until May 2017. But yes, OWPs take approx 4 months from the day CIC receives your application. Note-you'll mail the Sponsor App, Applicant app and OWP app all in the same envelope.
