Hi,

I need a confirmation I am a little confused. I am going to sponsor my spouse and daughter. I filled the forms for Part 1 (Sponsorship forms) but when I look in the checklist (5491) They list all forms even the one from part 2 (Immigration forms) and 3. Do I have to send them all at once ? or the part 2 forms are to be sent later once I will get the sponsorship letter from CIC ?

Also the form that I don't need to fill like representative, do I have to join them with NA on it ? or I just skip them ?

Thanks a lot for your help :)

You need to send forms for both parts at once. I was confused by this at first as well, and didn't realize the problem until we looked at the forms more closely.

Don't include the forms you don't need. Write N/A in the appropriate place on the checklist and include the checklist.

Thanks frege I was confused too that's why I asked as they don't say it clearly.

Maybe someone else can also confirm to be sure, because sending just part 1 would help me start the procedure otherwise I have to wait to get all documents of part 2 :(

There's a webpage that says that if it looks like it's going to take a long time to get your police certificates, it's better to send the application without them and send them once the visa office asks for them.

I can't add the link here, but you can find the page by Googling "Spousor your spouse" (sic). The source appears reliable.

You need to send both at once.

If you only send part 1 - the application package will be returned to you unprocessed.

Now I am really confused, If I have to send both part at once then how can I fill IMM008 question 7 with information about Quebec selection certificate ? To get the selection certificate I need to be approved by CIC for sponsorship first (Part 1) as indicated on Quebec immigration site :

Undertaking application

Before submitting an undertaking application to the gouvernement du Québec, the sponsor must first present a sponsorship application to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). If this application is accepted, the sponsor can continue the process by submitting an undertaking application to the Ministère de l’Immigration et des Communautés culturelles (MICC).

Just answer no. IMM 0008 is also used by some other categories of applicants for permanent residence who might already have a CSQ.

But if the answer is no you have to put the date for when I applied :( I understand that the form is used for other categories, but normal when we are not concerned it get gray out but not in this case. ???

So it is 100% sure we have to send all at once ?

I would leave the date you applied blank. Is that not possible?

Yes, both parts need to be sent at once.

From the instructions:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3900ETOC.asp

Phase: Completeness check

Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) reviews your application to make sure that:

all required fields in your application forms are complete,
you submitted all required documents, including the required forms and documents of the person you are sponsoring,
the correct processing fee payment has been made, and
all of the application forms have been signed.

100% sure you have to send everything at once. Everybody here will tell you the same. For questions that are related to Quebec and the CSQ, if they don't concern you, just don't answer.
Sweden

According to my immigration lawyer, only the police clearance certificates can be left out and sent in later. Otherwise, everything goes in one package.

If you have any problems with the generic forms, which require certain information to be filled out to be validated, fill out what you can to get it to validate. Then on the print out, write in the correction in pen and also explain the problem in a cover letter to the application. For example, my form wanted an expiration date when the correct answer was "None". I put in "8888-08-08" to validate, then wrote in "None" on the hard copy and explained the problem in the cover letter.

Good luck.

Thanks a lot for all of you for your help :) you save me a lot of trouble and waste of time :)
