I have lived in Canada for more than 14 years and later I got a job in USA and started living there. I am currently working in United States and I have declared myself as a non-resident of Canada but I have a proof of address (bank statements etc..). My parents are also staying Canada as well.

Now I got married to my wife who is staying in India and I would like to bring her over to Canada. From the sponsorship forms, it looks like I should demonstrate my intention of moving back to Canada with some documents listed on the form. I am not really certain about this. Can my parents sponsor my wife as their daughter-in-law? What is the best approach to bring my wife to Canada?

Should I hire a lawyer to bring her to Canada based on my current situation. Please advise.

Thanks,

No - your parents cannot sponsor your wife. Only you can sponsor your wife.

Since you have declared yourself as a non-resident of Canada, CIC will expect you to provide strong evidence that you plan to return to Canada and live there once your wife has PR. Things like: proof that a company has made you a job offer that you will take up once you return to Canada, proof you have started a search for a job in Canada, proof of property ownership in Canada, etc.

If actually have no plans on returning to Canada anytime soon, then it would probably make more sense to hold off sponsoring your wife until you do.
