My father-in-law was sponsored by his daughter. Now he will land Canada on next month. After coming Canada he is planning to apply for my mother-in-law (his spouse). But the problem is my father-in-law is new in Canada, how he will show his income to sponsor his spouse. Is it mendatory to show sufficient amount or asset in this case? Kindly help me with information.

There is no income requirement to sponsor spouses.

Was your mother in law declared on your father in law's application as a non-accompanying spouse? Was she medically examined?

Thanks scylla, Yes my mother-in-law was declared as non-companying spouse. No she was not medically examined since she was not sponsored that time. She was declared as a spouse only. So if my father in law land on next month, he can apply for my mother in law as Permanent Resident.

Are you sure she wasn't medically examined? If she was declared as a non-accompanying spouse - she still should have been medically examined.

Assuming she was medically examined and included on your father in law's application - then yes, he can apply to sponsor her when he arrives.
