Hi, I have a question I can't quite find good information on.

I'm in the process of sponsoring my wife (outland application). She has had a few seizure episodes in the past. Like once or twice a year if at all. It doesn't effect her life much and she's working full time. That said she is diagnosed with epilepsy and is taking medication for it.
I've been looking through the application and cannot find a place to put this info other than in IMM5669 > 2.Questionnaire > 11. had any serious disease or physical or mental disorder?
Should I be answering yes or no to this question?
I'm not sure if it can be considered as a serious condition, but that might just be my bias so would like some advice on this one.

I know we can mention this when medicals are requested, but should I include an LOE mentioning the condition?

Thank you.

Yes that would be considered a serious condition so should be declared but shouldn’t impact approval.

Agree that since it's spousal sponsorship, putting YES in serious disease or physical or mental disorder will not affect the application. Spouse will be approved regardless of most medical/mental condition.

To be clear, I think the test for spousal / child sponsorships is 'danger to others/to society' (or some similar wording). It's mostly about infectious diseases (and meant to ensure they get treatment).

I suppose some mental or similar conditions might conceivably be classified that way - but the bar (test) would likely be very high, and unlikely except where there are other inadmissibility factors. Meaning, basically, violent criminal records in addition to the mental.

Just my interpretation so caveat lector but doesn't mean I'm wrong )

I had nocturnal epilepsy in my early teen years which was controlled by medication and then I weaned myself off it and never had any seizures since age of 13. It still sits on my medical file historically though. Your wife should disclose her condition. I passed my medical but they most likely will want to see that it is being controlled by medication if she still has seizures. Best to be upfront and honest really.
