Hello,

I have recently become a Canadian PR and arrived in Canada few weeks ago. I was just hoping to know when can I sponsor my parents? If my income is $100k a year and if I can apply after one year? Or, do I have to wait for minimum 3 years before applying for my parent's PR.

THanks
Smit

You may qualify after 3-5 years. No guarantees that you will get selected or what the program will look like at that point. Bringing parents is never guaranteed.

Hello,
Hope you are doing well and keeping safe!
I saw that one of the requirements to sponsor patents is three years of NOA from CRA. I just moved to Canada in March from the US and currently working as a consultant remotely for the US company. I was wondering if I can use my W-2 (US income) for the Year 2018 and 19. Also, I am not sure about how to prove income without a paystub for the year 2020.

Thank you in advance. I hope my question is not too confusing.

Only Canadian Notice of Assessments are accepted. You can only use your income from 2018 and 2019 if you filed taxes in Canada for these two years.

Oh ok. Thanks for the reply.
I was hoping that the US and Canada tax treaty will come in to play for this situation.

No, it doesn't.
