I'm Dreaming of July/2015
hi all

is it possible to an 18 year canadian citizen who is studying in canada to sponsor his parents , i know the sponsor should sign agreement to carry on financial responsibilities of parents and should have a minimum low income but if the student have enough money in his bank account to cover financial responsibilities would this be enough? or it has to be a job???

thakns

Unfortunately a bank account isn't enough. You have to be making the income (through a job) to meet the low income cut off. So the short answer is no - it's not possible.

Does it have to be through a job, or any Canadian source income will do (e.g self employment)?

u need to have a certain annual income each year to sponsor your parents so if u are self employed making income or once u file your taxes and your income doesnt fall below the income required you are good

GUYS I WANTED TO ASK THIS QUESTION CONCERNING SELF EMPLOYMENT SO DOES THE CHILD HAS TO WORK FOR ATLEAST A YEAR THEN FILE HIS TAXES TO START APPLICATION ? AND DOES CHILD SPONSORING HIS PARENTS TAKES SAME AMOUNT OF TIME AS SPOUSE OR ITS AN ENDLESS PROCEDURE? THANKS ALOT

The processing time for parent sponsorship applications is much longer than the processing time for spousal applications. It will take at least 5/6 years. Possibly longer.
