The most depressing part is that is getting worse each year.
I don't think is going to be any point applying next year.
What do we have to do?Waiting from 31-st Dec.ourself in front of the building,calling the courier last minute just to come and give them the package,or we have to become even more creative???

Join a courier company and be a delivery man and then deliver your package yourself next year is the only option seems to me. I am ready to spend the night outside waiting for Stephanie to come and open the door to receive my package first.
On a serious note, i do not thing CIC would wait untill 16 jan to announce if they received 5000 + apps within first few hours of Jan 2. Rather they must devote manpower to check completeness of documents than charging CCs. So all hopes not lost for Jan 2 and Jan 5 apps. Good luck to us all.

Just called cic call center (i was surprised they still work). the agent said that if you want to get information of when exactly the package was delivered and how cic manages that - check tracking from your courier, and that cc charges can take several months to complete for all 5,000 applications, and that not being charged yet doesn't mean the application is not in the cap. basically, nothing very informative....

btw, i noticed that cic didn't even put a date on its today's message, but it says that they have 5,000 COMPLETE applications.

we all have to go to our MPs, request the details of how the acceptance of applications was organized - timestamps etc. if the quota is so ridiculously small - it has to be EXTREMELY transparent how it is being filled.

Thanks. On a separate note, just wondering what people did for document translations. I only had one document to translate and ended up paying more than $200 for a certified translation.

Nothing is 100%(like everything in life).
My driver suppose to be at home 7:30 am on 2 Jan.Again,last year I missed it by few hours and wanted to prevent that.
He was late and came 9 am.
We kept in thouch almost every hour-when he arrved,he called that there is a big queue.Told him to wait and finally 1:26pm he told me that just gave the package.Later on on their company web,it was updated delivered at 1:26pm.
I don't think I could of done anything different.
That's why I don't know next year what to do...

I think CIC is lying. There is no way they accepted 5000 applications and charged CC this week. the process is not transparent, i doubt they are actually taking 5K apps...extremely frustrated.

They've been working on it for 10 business days now. Last year they reached the cap on Jan 21 (i.e. in 14 business days) - maybe they hired more temps that allowed them to reach the cap 4 days earlier.
