CIC wants to see your income has been constantly meeting LICO+30% for whole family size (your present family + sponsored parents) for last 3 taxation years (2011, 2012 & 2013).
To see this CIC simply needs to look at question no. 7 and question no. 9. They don't need to check question no. 15 to verify LICO+30% requirement. I am giving you two other reasons why CIC won't use question no. 15 to verify your minimum income requirement.

(i) If you have interest income (investment in bank) that won't show up in question no. 15 table. Because that's NOT your employment income. However, it would be counted in line 150 and will show up in question 9.

(ii) In question 15, I created 3 rows (2 employers 3 different time periods) for 2012 taxation years. Do you think CIC has time to use a calculator to calculate my 2012 income by adding these three rows and then see whether I meet LICO + 30% requirement ?

I am confused because different people are giving different opinions about this question. For instance,

Also i am not sure what i should put in the "Family size" field in Q15 and Q19 (i believe i shouldn't not include my mom in the count... right? )

Thank you
Olga

That's correct - you put your family size in 2010, 2011 and 2012 i.e. you, your spouse and children.

CIC doesn't need to see anything on the form re: income when you provide your NOA or Option C, does it? Q7-9 is a summary and Q15 is more details about your income/source of income (I agree that it's not meant to check LICO+30%); but at the end this form is all about meeting LICO+30% for the right family size.

If you believe what you're saying (eg. CIC won't calculate); then do as you like. I just wanted to clear the confusion. I personally talked with agents and came up with same answer. Other people in this thread did same. There may be difference in responses over longer period.

Suppose you were single in 2011, got married in 2012. You're thinking to put family size 1 in 2011, 2 in 2012 and 2 ( ???) in 2013? Then, where does your parent(s) count? If you include your parent(s) in 2013; that contradicts your logic because your parent(s) haven't come to Canada in 2013 for CIC. With this, you cannot put the whole family size for any of the years of 2011, 2012 or 2013.

Therefore, you should put Your own family size + Sponsored parent(s) everywhere in the forms wherever it asks for. This question has been answered several times before in this topic after consultation with CIC call centre agents. In fact. all the questions on this page have been discussed before. Please, turn back and see.
Make sense. Thanks bro

Whats about the income part for Q.15 ???

When they ask Gross Income/Benefit for period, they mean the approximate yearly income for the employment, or the total income that was earned year after year?

Work History

I have a question regarding work history for 2013, 2012 and 2011. What if I changed jobs let's say in 2012.
Shall I write in this row something like this
1/1/2012 to 12/31/2012 ***CompanyA/CompanyB****CompanyA address/CompanyB address***$50,000?
Thanks

My mom and Down Syndrome brother are visiting me from India. I'm was thinking to apply for my mother at the moment as my Youngest brother is still in India and if need be he can take care of my older brother who has DS.

I know they changed the rule for dependent children but I really want that my mom should get immigration and shouldn't be a hurdle in her application because of my brother. And later we can try for my brother.

I have a huge family here, they immigrated from India in 60's ( 85 Members) They all are ready to write a letter in support of my brother and my mom. Should I apply for both of them and see if they reject it.

Both of them have no serious illness.

Thx

But you don't have space to write two phone numbers!

Definitely, CIC will look at question 9 along with NOA or Option C. If you report any amounts in 16((b)-(f)) your available income reported in question 9 will be lower than the income reported in NOA or Option C. That matters, right?

I understand your logic. May be I will do the same as you said at the end. But I am NOT fully convinced. How come my spouse who was single and lived with HER parents in 2011 will report the family size 3 (included me and my mother). We did not have any official relationship at that time.

I'm not too sure. But I guess the safe bet is to match your NOA/ Option C. In my case, for 2013, my T4 income is more than line 150 of my Option C. So, I still need to consult my tax lawyer what to put.

In either case, you shouldn't put any approximation. This Q15 table doesn't require 2014 income (verified by call centre) as it's written on the form that:

"Provide your employment history as well as periods of unemployment for the last THREE consecutive taxation years preceding your application. Please ensure that you do not leave any gaps in time" although the word 'Present' is confusing.

Rossei thanks for your answer but it's not going to work since printout shows only TOTAL income for 2012 so I don't know what I got exactly from CompanyA and CompanyB...so I mean I don't have separate amounts.

Then you may have to rely on your T4's. Is your sum of T4 incomes (from both companies) equal to Option C (line 101 or line 150)?

Here's what I did.. I summed up the 3 years and divided by 36 to get a monthly average.

Then you can get a rough ballpark for each position, just multiply by # of months.

Unless your salary has changed wildly between positions this should be good enough.
