Hi all,

I would like to ask a specific question if I can sponsor my parents and common law husband at the same time? I am thinking yes as long as you meet the income requirements. I might be wrong but please enlighten me. My parents PR application is in process and I wanted to sponsor my common law partner. Is this possible? Can I have some insights to those who went this process? Thank you in advance.

Yes, you can. They are unrelated streams. Have you accounted for your partner in the family size declaration for your parents already? If not, you may need to let IRCC know, especially if impacts your ability to meet the MNI requirements.

I had similar question that can parents & spouse be sponsored at the same time and came across this thread. So you are saying that both can be applied at same time but separately as they are different streams. But confused about your statement "If not, you may need to let IRCC know, especially if impacts your ability to meet the MNI requirements."

1) Do you meant to say that we have to inform IRCC on both the applications about the other application in process?
2) Min. Income Requirements they will then consider the threshold of 3 people being sponsored, right?

Thanks.

If the family size changes, such as getting married or having a child, you will need to recalculate the MNI. My question was regarding if all family members are already accounted for...

Unless you live in Quebec and depending on when you arrived you have quite a few years before you qualify to sponsor your parents.

Oh is it? I didnt know there was time limit to become eligible to sponsor one's parents. I thought the restriction was only on the income.

You need three years of income in Canada that meets the income requirement before you can sponsor.

It will be 4 people (not three) assuming you are sponsoring both of your parents and assuming you have no children. You have to count yourself as well.
