Hi folks.

I (Canadian citizen) will be sponsoring my wife (Macedonian) inland upon arrival in July. In the last 5 years we have lived in Malaysia and Macedonia. My wife is able to obtain police clearances for each; however, I am not able to.

Regarding Macedonia
The CIC website states, "Certificates are not available to former residents who are not citizens of Macedonia."
I was a former resident and visitor.

Regarding Malaysia
Malaysian policy states, "Foreigners must have resided in Malaysia for a period of at least 12 consecutive months under long term social visit pass (i.e. employment pass, student pass, spouse of Malaysian, expatriate pass)"
I was doing consecutive visitor visas while my wife was studying there, not one of the criteria for obtaining the clearance.

Do any of you think it will be a problem explaining this in the application? I'm most worried how I will be perceived 'living' in Malaysia as a visitor. This is totally legal but obviously at the discretion of the border agent.

EDIT: I am reading conflicting information as to whether the sponsor needs to submit police certificates. On the CIC Checklist, they are only listed for the applicant; it is not listed for the sponsor. I have, however, read on this forum that sponsors need to submit this too, as well as an immigration lawyer website.

There is no requirement for the sponsor to submit PCCs.

Thank you kindly. A small sigh of relief.
