Hey all,

Just a couple questions about sponsoring a spouse from Holland (Leon has got me thinking this may be the best way to go about this). I am a Canadian citizen
1. If we apply outland, will she be able to come into Canada before she gets her PR? Will the fact that we're married hurt her chances of crossing the border? Keep in mind she is from a visa exempt country.
2. From what I have read, outland PR typically takes 6-7 months depending on country etc correct?
3. No financial restrictions on sponsors if no kids are involved?
4. What are advantages/disadvantages of an outland application?
5. It only takes 3 years out of a continuous four year period to qualify for citizenship? I ask because in 4 years time I may get transferred for work reasons outside of the country.

Thank you for your help

Hi,

Try to answer some:
1. Questions may be asked but as long as she has return ticket and proof that she is going to leave after visiting then entry should not be a problem.
2. You can check the average processing time on the cic website.
3. Yes you are correct.
4. Advantages are that an outland app is normally completed much quicker, and also you have the right of appeal if it is rejected. Disadvantage is that you would be apart from each other, although able to visit.
5. Don't know!
