Hello everyone, this is my first post here.

Without getting into detail, a convergence of circumstances has made it so I have to return to Canada from Japan earlier than I expected, along with my Japanese wife. I will be getting back around Mid January, and I would of course like to bring her. We have all the required documentation, minus one medical check which should be completed by the end of the week. So, best case scenario, there will be 2.5 months between when I apply and when I intend to leave.

I have a few questions and would appreciate any answers...

1.) As I will be living in Japan with my wife during the time of application, should I mail everything to Manila or Mississauga?

2.) As far as payment goes, is there any way to pay via credit card for someone living overseas? Or must I include a money order?

3.) I realize that 2.5 months is shorter than what the CIC website says is an average application period. If our application is still pending, can my wife come to Canada under a tourist/working holiday visa and wait in Canada for it to be accepted?

Thank you for any help

Hi,

I am not sure about the first one.

2. As far as I can see, its not possible to pay through credit card if "you" want to pay fees while you are living outside Canada.

3. Honestly, its not a good idea to even apply for a tourist visa while the PR application is in process. Chances are very very high they woud refuse it. In this forum itself you will find lot of refusal cases. But if you want to take ypour chances, maybe you can try. You might be a lucky one.

Sorry both answers are negative.

Good luck with the application.

1. Mississauga
2. Yes https://services3.cic.gc.ca/epayweb/faq.jsp
3. She can come, but there is no guarantee that she would be admitted as a visitor, if an interview is required, she would have to return to Japan for it.

Her application would be processed through Manila - they're currently finalizing applications in 4-6 months, plus add about 6 weeks for processing of the sponsorship portion first at the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga. Be aware that spousal interviews are frequently waived, and if there is going to be an interview, you're normally advised pretty soon after the overseas office receives the file. If you can get your ap in immediately, you may know a whole lot more by the time you're ready to leave for Canada.

It is true that there's no guarantee your wife will be admitted to Canada, but because she is from a visa-exempt country the likelihood of her being refused entry when accompanied by you is low. You should read through the information on entering Canada with a visa-exempt foreign national spouse at the Visiting link of the US2Canada website. Pay special attention to the information on obtaining a Visitor Record.
