I am a permanent resident in Canada. I met my boyfriend last year in India and we have since been in a long distance same sex relationship for the past 6 months.
recently, we even took a trip together. we write emails and keep evidence of everything. I would like to sponsor him under the "conjugal partner" class to bring him to Canada.
is there anyone who would have more information and would be able to help me out with this?
thanks

Hi, you can’t sponsor him under conjugal because you do not qualify. There are no immigrations barriers between you that prevent you from being common law or getting married. You’ll have to sponsor him through one of those.

I am in a same sex relationship. we cannot marry in India, and the fact that I live in Canada and he lives in India- how would a common law work?

Then there is no immigration barrier. You cannot sponsor him as a conjugal partner. He must apply for a visa, and be rejected, for there to be an immigration barrier.

As said above, you need to show an immigration barrier. You also must be in the relationship for at least a year and show that it is a marriage-like relationship.
