So now that my husband has finally got his visa and is coming to Canada, I wanna know what's next?
1.What does he need to do to start working?
2. How long before he can start working?
3. Any tips to make the transition easier for us?

Thanks for the help guys

Look for jobs from job search websites such as www.monster.ca, www.workopolis.com, www.craigslist.ca, etc. The newspapers usually have job listings too...

No wait time. He can do so right away, assuming a Canadian employer wants to hire him now...

May be you can tell him to Skype regularly with his family in Germany? Usually the most common "sickness" suffered by newcomers is homesickness....missing their family back home, etc, so it's a good idea to stay in touch with his family from his homeland... ;).

And you can introduce him to more of your family and relatives....bring him to gatherings with your friends, that way he won't feel alone...

Last but not least, don't forget to apply for the healthcare......not sure where you live, but where I live (Ontario), it takes 3 months before a newcomer is eligible for OHIP. I heard that newcomers to Alberta are eligible for health coverage starting from the day they land in Alberta, although there are conditions that must be satisfied....I am not too sure though...
