Hi,

I sponsored my parents while I used to live in another province other than Quebec. My parents became permanent residence and then they moved to Quebec with me. Now, I don't have a job, can they apply for social assistance. The Undertaking letter we signed was not for Quebec. Do I still need to return back what my parent will get as parts of the financial assistance in Quebec. Considering the fact, I did not sign any agreement with the Quebec government to pay back any financial assistance my sponsored parent might get from the goverment.

Thanks a lot for your help :)

Hi

Yes, you still have to pay back any welfare your parents take, regardless of the province they are living in. You made an agreement with the government of Canada.

Agreed. Any social assistance your parents take within 10 years of landing will have to be paid back by you. It doesn't matter which province this happens in.
