Sponsor with criminal record

I understand your point and thank you, when we read the letter there was nothing like criminal charges written in it. The only thing written is that the plaintiff is saying he got hurt on his neck, leg and going through stress. And that we should respond to the civil claim. And we have already submitted our app last month and we just got this yesterday. My wife said after the accident in BC, when police came, they told her to go and that some of them lie about it. She left. After 2 years she got a letter from the BC court title civil claim. And we live in Manitoba now.

It’s civil. No implications on sponsorship.

There is no way that police will encourage your wife to hit and run. She may have misunderstand the procedure.
After noting information down from both parties involved in the accident, she can leave. (police do not usually involve in cases where there is not a series injury e.g. no ambalance arrive to transport injuries OR no series traffice affect by the scene)
She may get a case number if police arrived. Then she was supposed to report it to ICBC and/or her 3rd party insurnace company.

Then the case proceed from there. If she just left, it's hit and run. Then the other party can still claim injury and compansation but it will be through the insurnace company. Was she not insured?

Again, if there were no criminal charges, shouldn't be an issue for the sponsorship.

But the letter you received (a civil complaint) would of course not say anything about that.

I think it's likely just communication issues.

Still, if you're being sued, your spouse likely needs a lawyer.

She didn’t just leave, the police saw her and ran her driver’s license, and one of the officer told her that so many people lie when being hit just because they wanna get money. Then my wife left. We called her insurance about it and they said they cannot cover it because at the time her insurance got expired around that time and she wanted to change to BC. But our her insurance is saying she should get a lawyer and see what they can do about the civil claim by the plaintiff.
