How serious CIC is about sponsor exceeding his stay out of Canada for more than 2-3 weeks? ::)

It should not matter. In fact, sponsor visiting to meet spouse will be an additional evidence to support the relationship

Wrong.

If the sponsor is a Canadian citizen - they can visit for as long as they like.

If the sponsor is a permanent resident - staying outside of Canada for longer than three weeks creates risk the sponsorship application will be refused due to lack of residency. PRs must be living in Canada in order to sponsor their spouse.

I am renewing my PR card. That means I will have another 5 years before it expires. I send sponsorship application 5 months ago. Since the RPC is Singapore, I am not sure when it will be processed. I am planning to visit my wife for 6 weeks after I receive the renewed PR card. I will be working for the same employer, will reside in the same address (an apt. I own in Toronto) after I come back.

It will cost me $2,000 for the trip. So, it is not worth it to spend only 3 weeks there.

I even heard that after the trip, I can send the trip information and pictures to the Visa Officer through e-mail to bolster my application.

Is this a good idea or I heard it wrong? Obviously this information will help a lot of applicants in this forum.

A Canadian Citizen can sponsor his/her spouse while living in or outside Canada but has to provide an undertaking to live in Canada once approved.

A Permanent resident can not apply while living outside Canada. A visit to meet spouse is not same as living outside Canada unless sponsor abandons his ties to Canada. One short term visit should not make a difference as long as sponsor returns to Canada and continue living (having a job, residence etc.) in Canada.
