My husband has two kids in Zimbabwe, 6and 7years, the mother passed away in 2011. My husband has been trying to sponsor them but had to go through so much to get their birth certificates and passports done. Now that everything is fixed my husband is no longer working but I am. I was wondering if I can sponsor the kids as dependent children. I will be adopting them as soon as they arrive in Canada. Desperately looking for some valuable information

Your husband is the one who has to sponsor the children - you cannot. There is no minimum income requirement to sponsor.

Just to add - I assume the children were mentioned in your husband's application when he immigrated and were medically examined.

The kids were mentioned in his citizenship application. We were trying to fill out the sponsorship forms and its asking for his monthly income when he doesn't have one.

You need to provide some more information if we are to assist.

1) How and when did your husband become a permanent resident of Canada?

2) Where the children born when 1) happened?

3) If the answer to 2) is yes, were the children declared AND medically examined by CIC as part of your husband's application for 1)?

He became a PR in 2006, the kids were not born as yet. He applied for citizenship in 2012 and the kids were mentioned on that application form but no medical exams were done for them.

In that case, he should have no problem sponsoring them as his dependants. There is no income requirement for the sponsor as long as CIC are happy that he is not likely to require welfare and be unable to meet the sponsorship Undertaking. A letter of explanation attached to the financial evaluation can be used to clarify the situation.

I have one last question.

The kids have no permanent home in Zimbabwe, they were being moved back and forth from a Grand aunt to an aunt and now the Grant aunt said she can no longer shelter them. The aunt is giving away her custodian rights because she said she doesn't have the means to care for the kids. They might be sent to a child center or boarding school and my husband and I don't want that to happen. Is there an urgent process for situations like this?

Unfortunately there is no urgent processing available.

If these are his blood children and they may be placed in a boarding school or whatever...contact your local MP...and at this time of year you can also contact the press....You can also contact the Zimbabwe consulate in Canada...

I suggest you immediately apply for TRVs for the children to bring them to Canada while waiting for PR.
