Hi. Was hoping someone can help me with this questions.
My partner is the sponsor, he is selfemployed, has his own business.

On IMM5540
are you currently employed? dates, employer, ocupation, monthly income. What should he put?
he has had his business for more than 5 years so all time is selfemployed..how he answers?

On the checklist it asks for proof of employment or proof of income (statement of business actvities, received interests or income earned) what have you guys sent for this? is it his actual business bank statements? or is there any other paper, we cant figure out what to send. he has his personal bank account and his business bank account. How many statements should he send?

On the IMM5481 it does give option of selfemployed, name of business and date established. Then asks for net personal income..is this total on business account? is it what it shows on C Printout? He also does some freelancer jobs so whats the number he should put here and does it should match any of the paperwork provided?

Finally, we asked for the C Printout and was sent on June when we thought we would be sending application, now we are planning to send it end of october, will this C Printout still be valid? I hope so but want to make sure.

Thanks!!!

A quick question is he sole proprietor or corporation .. My business is corporate so i am employed by my own business stupid. so i sent off my option c and got a letter from the company i did business with to testify how much they pay me yearly and how long i supply my services to them .

He is sole owner, no corporation so that wouldnt apply to him. Smart way to send your application.
Any suggestions or how ours should be filled?
Thanks!

I would use the personal income .He don't have to have a lot as i know with personal income is a lot less than he really uses . I would also send his business tax return just as an extra .

thanks for you help.
anyone knows about date of c printout? will one from june work?
thanks again!!!

CIC asks for an Option C printout for the latest tax year. There has not been a new tax year since June, so yes it is valid. Good luck!

I am self-employed (non-incorporated sole proprietorship) and sent only one the Option C Printout as both my proof of income and employment, and I was accepted as my wife's sponsor without any issues.

Thanks for your answer!
Sorry to bother you more, so in the checklist for sponsor, number 17 asks for c printout and then number 18 asks for proof of employment or income...did you marked this box? or explained anywhere that c printout was enough proof? sorry is just so confusing, thanks for your help.

In our application (wife is the sponsor) for checklist number 17 we included the Option C (which CIC uses to check for welfare) and then for checklist number 18 we included pay stubs and a copy of her work contract.

If the sponsor is employed I would include evidence to show that.

Statements of Business Activities, prepared for tax purposes, could be added as additional evidence of where your sponsor's income is coming from.

It's been going on two years now -- my recollection fails me as to itty-bitty-details -- but were I to do it again, I would certainly include my Statement of Business Activities from that year's tax filing as well.
