Hello

I am 3 months away from taking the test to get my US citizenship. My spouse and I are going to move back to Canada once I get my US citizenship. But the problem is that he was approved for landed immigrant for Canada and now has 6 months to get it. By the time I take my test his 6 months will have expired. My question is can we "Land" in Canada now without effecting what I have going on in the US? Also I have a 10 year green card and still plan to work for a US company once we move back to Canada. (I work from home over the internet)

Any help would be great!

Thanks

Landing just means he shows up at a POE and gets his COPR stamped. He needs to have an address in Canada for the PR card to be sent, so if you have friends/family there you could use that address. Otherwise, just hire a mail forwarding service and use that address.

It's pretty common for someone to "land" and then leave. The only problem people have with this is if they stay outside Canada for more than three years before moving there permanently. You don't mention your own citizenship, but if you are a Canadian citizen, time your husband spends with you outside Canada counts as time for the PR obligation - but does not count for Canadian citizenship.

Good luck!
