Hi ,

I am permanent resident of Canada want to sponsor my wife here in Canada . I am Indian Citizen and she is Nepali Citizen we both got married in Nepal last year 2017 , but our Marriage registered in India . In The marriage cerficate itself written Place of Marriage is Nepal but this certificate issued by Indian Government.

As i go through the CIC website it's clearly mentioned Marriage certificate should be issued from government where it took place . Also i tried to Nepal authorities about the issuance of Marriage certificate they said you already registered this marriage in India we cannot re-register this marriage .

Can anyone suggest me what should i do in this situation ? should i start of processing of my wife with current marriage certificate or do i need to gather other supporting documents which could describes my marriage is Legal

I would be more grateful if you could give me a possible suggestion

Did you receive your PR before you got married?

Did you let them know about your status when you got ur PR? Please make sure in other to be able to sponsor her

U need to write an explanation on why u can’t register the marriage from Nepal and if u can get a letter from whoever is in charge indicating the fact that the marriage has already been registered ! I feel like it’s not a big issue as long as u explain it well
