Hi there,
So I am Canadian citizen, I got married and have a son in the Philippines, me and my wife have separated before her PR was approved so I had to withdraw the application. We have already applied for my son's citizenship and expect it will be approved soon, but of course the issue is my ex dosent want to be separated from her son of course. But it is quite hard for her to find a way to come to canada without me to sponsor for her. I own a business and was thinking I may be able to sponsor her as a employee, she did bookkeping for a store for 9 years and I would be able to employ her, I guess just looking for some advise, is this a possible route for us to go? Thanks in advance!

You would need to a LIMA for her first. Secondly, given you have already submitted a spousal sponsorship application, and she is the mother of your son, IRCC will probably flag it as an immigration of convienience. I suspect you would be in for a ton of scrutiny and most likely a refusal. Worst case, you try and it gets refused. You might be out a couple of thousand dollars if you try.

As per Buletruck you need to read up on the LMIA process given the first hurdle you would need to overcome would be a convincing case no Canadian resident bookkeepers are already available for the position. This would be apart from any scrutiny based on the past relationship with your ex as a candidate which would become obvious at some point during the application

Thank you for the advice, so it dosent sound like that would be a realistic route to go. Do you have any other recommendations that we could attempt to get her into canada? Maybe some additional schooling or caretaker course, something along those lines? Kind of a difficult situation as I would really like my son to be able to grow up here in Canada.

Thank you!

Thank you!

Check out the live-in caregiver requirements. She would need one year of full time paid work experience to qualify within the last three years or at least six months of full time education in the field (within the last three years). She will also need a job offer in Canada and an approved LMIA from that employer.
