Is anyone on the same boat as us?

My husband and me have applied for the Family Class sponsorship...we sent our application on 30th of July and I got a notification from my mail courier that the application has been delivered on 1st Aug (2017). Today, we are still waiting for the approval of me being a sponsor, we haven't received any updates/client ID thru e-mail/mail and its already October--two months and ten days have gone by without a word.

Has this happened to anybody else? Do any of you know the reason why this might be the case?

Have you gotten the acknowledge of receipt yet? If you haven't, you should call them to found out if they have returned your application. If you got the AOR already, yes, sponsor approval can take some time and it would seem like you're within the processing time

rather than creating a thread all by itself, submit your questions in the month you applied. every month's outland/inland threads are created. you applied in July, so there is a July Outland thread. You will get faster replies there.
I believe everyone's free to create a new thread if they have a question like this. No need to send them elsewhere.

Nope, we haven't received our AOR yet! I read on the site that:

If we begin to process your application, we will send you an acknowledgment of receipt letter or email with an application number.

We do not send an acknowledgement of receipt until we have opened your application and checked that it is complete. There may be a delay between the date we receive your application and the date we open it.

Your application will be returned to you if:

  • it is incomplete,
  • fees are missing, or
  • it is received after a program is paused, closed or a cap is reached.
My application hasnt been mailed back to me so I'm wondering why there is such a huge delay! Does it really take two months to open an application, really?

I think there's a real chance it was returned to you. Mine was received on July 26th, and got AOR on September 1st. You should call them and ask what happened. When the applications are returned, it can take quite some time for them to get to your home. 2 months, even 3 seems like would be within their usual time to return them. Anyway, you definitely should call them to figure it out.

Thanks a lot, that was very helpful. I'm just confused as to how putting my Canada Visa forum username will be helpful at all? Is this form going to CIC? Can you please explain what this is all about?

Don't think so, my mother and siblings are home and receive mail every day, they would have told me if it was returned. So you're saying that I should be expecting a returned application sometime soon in the mail?

Also, I'm overseas right now.. How can I contact them, I saw that they only do calls within Canada?

When I say it may have been returned, I mean it can be on its way, not that it should be at your front door already. I am not saying you should expect a returned application in the mail soon. What I am saying is that there's a high chance for that. You should call them and find out. If you're overseas, there are ways for you to call them. I don't remember exactly, but Google has a tool for that. You can find it on the forum as well, you just have to search for it.

You should definitely call them. It's possible that your application was returned to you but got lost in the mail... or it's possible that they made a mistake entering your information and you never received AOR because it didn't go to the correct email. My app was received August 2nd and I received a very late AOR on September 22nd, so if you have not heard, something is up. Definitely don't wait anymore and go ahead and call IRCC tomorrow.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. I'm a bit hopeful because there are other people on the spreadsheet of the Spouse Sponsorship Applicants outland that also haven't received their AOR even though its been about two months for them too. I'll figure out how to call them. Thanks for all the help

True, very possible! Definitely will, thank you!

Keep in mind not everyone returns to update the spreadsheet, especially if their application was returned

I'm in a bit of a situation. I was able to get the number that people from overseas can call CIC, I called them and they asked for my application number. But the problem is I DON'T HAVE ONE, they have yet to correspond with me to even give me that information, so I *can't* even call them to enquire about what the heck is actually going on. I have no idea what to do.

You can reach them anyway. Just enter a bogus number when you get to the prompts (hit F for family class and then 00000000) and it'll tell you it can't find anything and ask if you want to speak to an agent
