Sponsership while living in foreign country

hello, my wife(us citizen) and I(Canadian citizen) live in the UK. We are preparing to move to Canada within the next 2 years and I want to prepare her sponsorship before we go so that she will be able to start working once we arrive. I am concerned as I have read that you need to prove your intent to move if applying outside of Canada.

Obviously as we get closer to our move we will be able to provide some of the things they are asking but the idea is to get her visa before we pay for a rent deposit, tickets, etc. We are trying to avoid only one of us working once we get there.

Also in case it may be an issue I was born in Canada but my parents moved to us while I was an infant so I have never actually lived in Canada as an adult. I do not have a tax id or social insurance number. Will this be an issue upon arrival from UK? can immigration officers at airport question me regarding my lack of Canadian residence?

No issues for immigration. Just that children and non-resident Canadians adults can have their own social insurance numbers. Many canadian citizen who lives overseas don't have a canadian residence.

For the proof, you can just write out what your current plan is, even if it's just conceptual. So you can write things like, you have family/friends living there, you want to move to x town or x area for whatever reasons, you want to try to get a job in x field... that sort of thing.

My husband and I live in the UK, and I (Canadian) sponsored him (Brit) last year. At the time we were applying, we were doing the application for a similar reason - wanted to have it all sorted before looking for work. So for that question we just wrote that we were looking to live in Pleasantville, Ontario [surrogate town for obvious reasons], and would be moving in with my parents initially. We also wrote that we have visited Pleasantville a few times and had driven around the area to identify areas where we might want to start house hunting. For work, we wrote that because my husband's company doesn't have an office in Canada, he would be applying for jobs in the same industry once PR had been granted. I said I would either look for a new job, or transfer with my current company, depending how things worked out.

The proof doesn't have to be anything concrete - a lot of people apply in advance, and don't have jobs or leases when they're applying given the amount of time it can take to apply. What they're more interested in is that you generally have a plan and have given it thought, and that you're serious about actually wanting to make the move. Whatever you write in here should generally tie in with stuff you say in the rest of the application, so just write out your plan and it should be fine. Good luck!
