Hello

I have a US drivers license and am planning to get a BC drivers license through reciprocal agreement. I believe a speeding ticket might show up in my US record. How will this affect my license exchange in BC?

Your help will be much appreciated.

Thank you

It won't affect it at all. you will be able to exchange your license without any issues so long as your US license is valid.

it *may* affect your insurance rates. i'm not sure how strict BC is with those things. In ontario, all it took was 1 incident on my record for companies to consider me "high risk", so definitely shop around if you can.

No shopping around in BC. There's only ICBC you'll have to deal with.

Do yourself a favor, especially in the Lower Mainland: No speeding ---> too many idiots on the road you'll have to deal with. Avoid Richmond if you can...worst driver to be found ever Lol

You'll be able to exchange it fine, the cost on insurance is likely to depend on where the ticket from? Tickets from the likes of NYC can affect your cost here in Ontario, further afield they don't share the data for some reason (could be state dependent).

At least with ICBC you get rates about 50% of the cost here in ON ;) I dream of that happening here.

Thank you!
