Hello guys!
I am a 30yo man from Norway and my girlfriend has been working in Toronto since January in one of the level 0, A or B positions. I was also there in January and i got a Job offer there in a NOC 1522 (Level C) job. My new employer applied for an LMIA through the TFWP but it came back negative today. The employer was kind enough to keep an opening for me if i were to find other means of getting a work permit.
I was wondering if you have any advice for me what to do.
I was thinking about applying for an open work permit but the problem is we have been in a long distance relationship for soon 3 years, but we are not married nor do we qualify as common-law partners since we have never lived together over longer periods.
The only thing we have linking us together in a relationship is both our names on the lease for an apartment in Toronto that we got in January, plus we have some pictures of us together and so on. Both of us also have a lot of receipts from travelling back and forth between our two cities in Norway and Finland, and maybe even some receipts for some travelling we have done together. Do you guys think it would be worth a try to apply for the SOWP or would it be a waste of money? Would it help if we got married and then apply, (drastic i know) or would that be turned down because of the short length of the hypothetical marriage?
Any helpful advice you guys have would be appreciated
Thanks guys!
