Hi there,

I'm in a very weired situation. I've received my Visas from V.O London, but with a small mistake.

Actually my son's name on passport appears as Single name "Imran" only. Logically it should be Imran Malik
Given name:Imran
Surname: Malik (usually father's first name is used as surname)

But V.O has put the Given name as Surname & left the Given name field blank.

I have 2 questions here:
Q1: Is it Ok to have a single name on the Visa as a single name appears on Passport. Could there be any kind of complication or rejection on the port of entry?

Using Given name in Surname field on visa can it be a reason for rejection.
?

1. It's Ok. U'll have no probs while 'landing'.
2. U should have checked your 'update information form' before sending the pps.
3. Also, u had a recourse during the meds, those forms too had carried this info.
4. After landing u have a choice to do 'change of name'. There r certain steps.
5. Note: Technically he'll have no prob in the future too, with this one liner name.

Thanks quorax,

It was mentioned correct on Medical forms & update forms as Imran Malik. But on Passport it appears only Imran. My first name is mentioned in Father's name. I guess thats why V.O considered it as a single name and issued the Visa on a single name.

But do you think that Immigration officer at Port of Entry could have an objection on why the kid has a single name ?

I would say it shouldn't create problem, but at the same time send a case specific enquiry to your visa office and ask them the same.

Hi,

Just leave it as what said by quorax. Case specific enquiry may not help immediately . As the medical did show the name correctly means that thier system has already the full name input. After landing it can be corrected, before processing the PR card. Please note that once you land the IO will make a cross on the visa sticker.

Thanks everyone for the info.
I've already checked with V.O London & below was their response.

"You will have no problem being landed with the document as it is issued."

If anyone has done their landing could please let me know what info is asked by the IO at POE. Does he fill in the PR card info with us or we have to do it later on our own.

If my kid lands with a single name & later on the PR card I fill his name as first name & last name, would it be ok or the people in PR card department look at the COPR to verify names?

I know its a tough question, but would appreciate experience sharing.
