Greetings, everyone! Had a quick question I wanted to ask to see if anyone else has dealt with this issue before.

I am currently going through the Inland Spousal Sponsorship process. I do not yet have my OWP (though I anticipate receiving that in a few months). I left much of my belongings in the States when I moved to Canada with the hope I might be able to go down and get them once I received my OWP. There has been a slight hiccup in that process, and I may not be getting my OWP for a few more months.

I have a friend who is coming up to visit me in Oct. They have kindly offered to bring up some of my winter clothing, since I know I'll be here longer. Would this present a problem at the border, or is there some way I can authorize someone to bring up some of my personal goods, since I don't want to leave while my application is in process? Any help or advice would be appreciated!

You should try to hold off until you are a PR before you bring your stuff up. If your friend brings them nnow, they will be charged duty and tax on these items when they bring them into Canada.

What id I was ok with paying the duties and taxes on the items, just so I would get them sooner? Is there a form or a process I need to look into?

Looks like duty would only be about $100 based on some calculations, which is still cheaper than buying all new winter clothes! Guess I'll go look for that authorization form :)
