I will try to make this short.

I have been talking online via Skype for a few months to a Lovely Filipina with a 4 y/o Daughter.

I am looking into the future that this will become a serious relationship and would like to meet her either here in Canada or in her country of the Philipines.

Down the road what is the best way for us to be together.

Can I sponcer her to come to Canada on a visitor visa. and keep extending it until we have been living together for a year and therefor considered comon law at which time apply for perm residence for her and her daughter.

Or would it be better to take a month off and go to Phillipines and get to know her better and marry her there. From what I have read if this is done the application can take many many months to process.

Also I own a small Griocery store here. Can she work or help me in the store while here on visitor visa.

Apreciate any advice.

I dont want to get too involved if the end result is just heart break because the goverment will just denie all applications.

I am also willing to put her thru college courses that would be benificial to her in the future. I can prove funds for study visa.

Thanks

Yes - she can try to apply for a visit visa. Unfortunately the chances are pretty high she will be refused. No - she cannot work in your store if she comes here as a visitor. It is illegal to work while in Canada as a visitor. Yes - once you have been living together for a year you can sponsor her as a common law partner. Or you can get married and sponsor her as your wife immediately afterwards.

If she cannot obain a visit visa, yes - you can go to the Philippines and marry her there - then sponsor her outland. The posted processing time for applications sent to the Manila office is 11 months. The means that many applications are actually processed faster.

Note that you will have to provide plenty of evidence in your application to prove your relationship is genuine. It's probably not a good idea to marry your wife the first time you meet her in person. It would be better to visit her once to get to know her - and then make a second trip to marry her. When people marry the first time they meet this can look suspicious to CIC.

If she wants to come here on a study visa before you sponsor her - she will first have to apply to a school and be accepted. To be approved for a study visa, she will have to demonstrate that she has strong ties to her home country and has no plans to remain in Canada long term. She will also have to show that she has sufficient funds to pay for her studies. Note that foreign students pay substanially higher tuition fees than domestic students.

Hope this helps.
