I'm new to this forum and just did the subscriptions, it’s extremely useful and informative.
Just wanted to ask the expert here some questions which might be basics for you 

Hello

I have applied via lawyer in Canada and did the submission on 15th Dec 2014.

Received the first updates on 6th March with a positive response that my applications went to VO.

Questions :

What is the next step and when I can expect it ?
How can I check the status of my application ?
Is there any preparation that need to be done as I applied on senior management profile ?

Thanks to all of you and wish you best of luck.

Questions :

Q. What is the next step and when I can expect it ?
Ans: It take 1 to 2 months for file transfer to VO. Then it depends on your Visa Office/ Visa Officer that how fast they process the applications. If it's São Paulo, expect the fastest processing times and you will receive Stamped Visa in next 4 months. If it's the slowest Visa Office than it may take an year or so.

Next step after PER/Application acceptance is Medical Request.

Q. How can I check the status of my application ?

Ans: Through ECAS, link is : https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/ECAS.jsp

Q. Is there any preparation that need to be done as I applied on senior management profile ?

Ans. It depends on your job profile. Expect to have certifications related to you profession if you want early recognition.

Thanks a lot for your information, I have tried to check the status of my application. Yet it's not found.

Thanks a lot for the advice, I was able to check the Status of my application using UCI and it's showing " In process "

It's via "Federal Skilled Worker Centralized Intake Office
Sydney, Nova Scotia "

Please let me know what does this mean ?

Thanks, sorry I still face difficulties in understanding those abbreviations.

Great that you are able to see your on-line status. Congrats.

Here you go:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1st Stage is : Completeness Check
2nd Stage is : MI [Ministerial Instructions]. They check your profile according to the MI and allocate you points and deduct charges for the processing of the application. Once it is successful, CIC issues PER mail to the applicant

***********Here your ECAS goes live and 1st line appears as: We have received your application on the dateXXXXXX" ***************

3rd Stage : PER [Positive Eligibility Review], it is an e-mail received by the applicant, which tells the applicant that CIC has accepted your application for further processing. The mail also tells you that your Application will now be transferred to Respective Visa Office.
4th Stage: Visa Office receives the Application package from CIC and issues AOR [Acknowledgement of Receipt] to the applicant that they have received their package and to let the applicant know that their Visa Office is this/that. Busiest VO that is London Visa Office[LVO] don't send the AOR expect LVO, all VO sends AOR, that's the result of my personal observation.
5th Stage: After AOR, the Background Check starts and any time during that depending on the Visa Officer, he will update your ECAS with 2nd line

****************** 2nd line : " We have started processing your application on the date: XXXXXXXX" **************************
Once the background checks are completed, they will send you an e-mail for Medicals, PCC [Police Character Ceritificate] + To pay RPRF [Right of permanent residence fee]. Once you are done with that and your doctor submits the successful medical results to CIC

****************** 3rd line appears on ECAS "We have received your Meidicals" ******************************************

6th Stage: They request for your passport to get stamped with the Maple Leaf. On the submission of Passport

****************** 4th line appears on ECAS "Decision has been made. The Officer will contact you soon" ***********************

Sometimes this line appears before passport submission and this solely depends on your Visa Officer [VO], how he wants it. Decision Made [DM] line is always good when it comes to appear as 4th line, any time before it, not good.

7th Stage: You will receive your passport along with COPR [Confirmation of Permanent Residence] letter and do the dream landing:)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The most time taken stage is from PER to Medical Request and it all depends on your Visa Office and Visa Officer. Expect that all stages are sort of predictable and of short duration.

Good luck and all the best:)

Thanks a lot for your reply.

Crystal clear :-)
