Immigration visa is till say 20th March (CoPR validity). If one goes before 20th and does landing process and returns on say 25th, will there be issues at Canada immigration on 25th because the person won't be having PR card by then? I am pretty sure it won't, still confirming.

Yes there would be an issue if travelling by air you need PRTD.

OP is not asking for returning back to Canada. He/She is asking for leaving Canada. There won't be any issues with that.

No problem getting out. But I know that you need the PR card to go back to Canada later on ... Is there a mailing address for your friends or family in Canada or something?

I read OP’s query differently:

Yes, you will have an issue at Canadian immigration if travelling by air without PR card or PRTD. Technically, you could reach CBSA and present just COPR, but the airline will not let you board a plane to Canada without PR card, PRTD, or U.S. passport.

Ok I was asking about leaving Canada, not returning. :) I believe Immigration check happens even at time of leaving the country for everyone, the stamping that person is leaving happens. Hence I mention Canadian Immigration.
