Hi,
Just have a simple question. Please someone tell me if SIN application is done in the border (we are driving) ? If not, then where ?
Anyone went through sweetgrass border in Alberta ?
Do we have to apply for health card or we can wait until we are ready to come back permanently ?
Thanks in advance for your advice.

You will need to go to a Service Canada location to apply.

A list of Alberta locations can be found here.

And it's not called "Social Security" here - it's a Social Insurance Number. Best to start adapting to the terminology - they have a tendency to get a little testy with us Americans because we think everywhere is like home. It isn't Zee, it's Zed. They sometimes measure in inches and feet, and sometimes even miles per hour and farenheit - but you have to let them "speak your language" first . . . then you can talk that way. If you start with mph or F, they'll switch on ya!! Welcome to Canada. ;D

lol, Robsluv,

I like how the advertisements for produce in the grocery as $ per lb then give you a scale to weigh it and it's only metric. Also, unlike home...you can't use your debit card at the gas pump for a fill up, you have to specify in $CAD how much you want to buy. :-\
