Hey Seniors, to clarify the social media experience dilemma, please kindly share your thoughts regarding experience on social media with regards to below questions about professional experience
i) if social media e.g. linkedin profile must be updated to exactly reflect listed experience on application ?
ii) what if linkedin experience (in terms of number of companies, duration of employment) is more (not less) than as listed on PR application ?
iii) is linkedin profile even needed/necessary to verify your experience if you have documents that validates and proves your earned experience?

thanks

Your LinkedIn profile doesn't need to be an exact 100% verbatim match. However, it's very possible it will be examined as part of your background check so it does need to match up in general terms at least.

For example, in your application you say you worked for Mercedes-Benz in Germany from 2014-2016, but your LinkedIn profile says you worked for Kia Motors in S. Korea from 2014-2016. This kind of major discrepancy can lead to a more detailed background check being conducted.

Make sure you aren't directly contradicting anything; you can show a longer duration of employment or any other difference. CBSA is aware that LinkedIn profiles are often, shall we say, "padded", and there's no law against that. As long as you are honest in your application, they don't care about stuff you said elsewhere. Again, apply a standard of reasonableness here.

No, a LinkedIn profile is not at all necessary to verify your experience. If you have one, they may look at it, if it doesn't exist, they will move on.
