Employment assistance like ISSofBC, is this considered as form of social assistance?

Pls help! Thanks guys!

EI, maternity leave, etc doesn't fall under social assistance. They're basically just talking about welfare. :)

thanks, but im asking is employment assistance like the one that is offered by ISSofBC ., is this a form of a social assistance?? pls help, i need to know the precise definition of social assistance...

thnks

For the CIC website:

Social Assistance/ Welfare: Commonly known as "welfare"

If you're not getting what most people call "welfare" then you're not on social assistance. This is "last-resort financial assistance to people with no severely limited capacity for employment." It is intended to "provide financial assistance to cover the cost of basic living requirements and in-kind goods and services for an individual or family when all other financial resources (of that individual or family) have been exhausted."

I'm confident that you are not in this category.

I think ISSof BC is more like an organization (privately funded) to help new immigrants and refugees settle in Canada, providing vocational/language training, etc. So it is not welfare in the sense that the organization is giving you living allowances or money to spend for your daily needs.
