I envy all those who said their oath while the beloved Queen was still alive, because this is what the rest of us will be dealing with (Camilla looked embarrassed):

This is also why I posted the following comment back in November 2021

Serious question, at my oath ceremony in a few days, can I still pledge allegiance to the Queen, instead of Charles? Would doing so invalidate my oath for the purposes of obtaining Canadian citizenship?

Thanks

Serious answer is that this may create problems for you. They do listen to make sure people say the oath full and accurately. Someone at my husband's oath ceremony failed do to this (coincidentally it was the bit around pledging allegiance to the Queen). They were taken aside, told it had been noticed they failed to say a part of the oath accurately, this was a very serious matter, and told they would not be receiving citizenship that day. I don't know what happened after that since we had to walk out of the room.

Note that even if you had been able to take the previous oath, you still would have had to swear allegiance to Queen Elizabeth II and "Her Heirs and Successors" which includes Charles and his descendants, so the only difference now is that the Queen is no longer included.

I'm aware of the "heirs and successors" part, but it would have been vastly different not having to explicitly say Charles' name.

You need to say the full oath as is, but apparently you can disavow afterwards. This guy set up a site http://www.disavowal.ca for people who have issues swearing allegiance to a monarchy to disavow that part afterward:

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/oath-allegiance-queen-dror-1.3343188
https://www.macleans.ca/news/canada/new-canadians-continue-fight-to-disavow-citizenship-oath-to-queen/
I don't have a problem with the monarchy per se. If the Queen had been alive, this would not be an issue at all. I would also have much less of a problem if Charles had been skipped for the crown to be passed directly to William.

The official text of the oath as published on the federal website still refers to the Queen as of today.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/discover-canada/read-online/oath-citizenship.html

If on the day of my oath (15th), this text is still the same, can I simply read from this text for my oath, since this is the official text of the oath as published by Canada' federal government?

They will give you the updated oath at the ceremony. If you say anything other than the updated oath, then you have to be prepared for the possibility this could create issues.

Canadian in general are pro monarchy, even more than the UK itself, at the opposite of australia who probably will be a republic soon.

In Canada there is more chance than the UK become a republic than Canada itself lol.

Just to show you, that you will always pledge oath to the king.

( even if he didnt mention Canada in his speech, and all his speech was about the UK and people of britain )

Interestingly enough a recent poll showed that half of us aren't supportive of keeping the monarchy. And that was before the Queen died. I'll bet the number would be even higher now.

Just look recently, i was following the news there is almost no article about becoming a Republic after the Queen death, while in Australia the green party, the labor party etc.. they all say it's time to move forward.. here its 0 except bloc quebecois lol.

Also i've read an article, in Canada it's almost impossible to become a republic, because the constitution need to change and for that every single province/territory need to agree for this change which is super complicated, even if the majority of people want so, every people of every territory need to agree.

The Monarchy is here to stay in Canada as long as it's in the UK.
even if the king don't really speak or mention canadians in his speech, his priority will and always will be the people of britain.

As long at the Monarch is the Head of State in Canada, those taking Oath have no choice but to swear allegiance to the Monarch, in this case KC III. Whether one likes Charles / William / George or Elizabeth, it is what it is.

Anyone cribbing about allegiance to a monarch knew what they were getting into before mailing the citizenship application. Right?

I pledged allegiance to Winnie-the-Pooh. I don't mind pledging allegiance to whatever-the-hell-it-is.
