I'm Canadian born and raised but I'm not living in Canada right now. I moved to China 4.5 yrs ago and met and fell in love with a Chinese woman here. We're been married for almost a yr now and we're going to apply to get her a PR visa but after going over the websites (CIC, MICC, and Canadian Embassy in Beijing). Hoping you can help me with some questions.

1) We're planning on living with my parents until we get on our feet. So we submit the application and then cause we'll be living in Quebec they'll mail me the Quebec forms? I think that's what it says on the web. Or do I just send the Quebec forms at the same time (also downloaded the correct forms, I hope and think).
2) Are weblinks good proof we're a genuine couple? On facebook we have friends who've posted pics of us together and also last time I checked they mention the date it was posted so they'll see some have been on since when we were dating (over 2 yrs ago)
3) Does my wife have to pass any English test? She's an English major in University and although shy her English is just a below a native speaker, apart from expressions.
4) :o :o :o What fees do I have to pay? If I'm reading right it should be $490+475+75= $1040 according to CIC's website.
5) How do I show my financial ability to them if my income returns in Canada will show about $100 and in China there's no income tax to be paid?

I have so many more questions but I don't want to bog you down. So I'll ask them later once I get these settled.

I'm not familiar with Quebec's process, but on principle I'd download all the forms and make the application as complete as possible.

This would be proof equivalent to photos of you and your wife with friends -- a form of corroboration Canada likes.

3) Does my wife have to pass any English test? She's an English major in University and although shy her English is just a below a native speaker, apart from expressions.

Nope; this is a spousal visa, so no English required. However, the fact that she speaks English will be evidence that you two can communicate. Lack of ability to communicate would raise the concern that it was a "visa-marriage". There are two main concerns to address in your application: are you intending to reside in Canada?; and is the relationship legitimate?

4) :o :o :o What fees do I have to pay? If I'm reading right it should be $490+475+75= $1040 according to CIC's website.

Right.

Because you are a Canadian citizen, there is no minimum income requirement. Nevertheless, they do ask about the finances of the sponsor (you), and so explain in a cover letter what your income is, and (to give Canada more comfort), how you intend to support yourselves in Canada.

Before asking them, you should use the search function. I've seen these questions answered in detail in the year I have been using this forum. Then, if you have something specific to your case that hasn't been covered, ask away. There is sure to be someone here who has actual experience with your query.

Good luck.

By the way, why not live in China? Why Canada? It's more expensive, colder (unless you're in the north), and the food is great.

I'm also a Canadian living in China. But I have been unable to log on to my account in facebook. What site or software do you use in order to connect?

BTW, why not Canada? At least, you can log on to youtube and facebook without restrictions

you should not send weblinks. take screen captures of the important things online, and print them off to include in the application. i highly doubt a VO would take the time to type links into his computer.

I wish there was the option to upload all our information (scanning tickets, digital photos, filling up forms online) instead of printing everything and sending that bunch of paper.. it's a waste of ink, paper and it makes me so sad to see all of that is going to waste. I hope at least they send us back the pictures, it's not like CIC will put them in frames :(

i agree. there should be an option to submit electronically. from what i have heard they take apart our applications and scan everything anyways! i was quite sick submitting 600+ pages of paper. My husband did get about 450 pages of it back, along with all of our photos.

1) they do not mail you the quebec forms. they are found here: http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/immigrate-settle/sponsors-sponsored/apply/index.html
they do send you a letter once the sponsorship is approved that you MUST send in with your undertaking application to québec. You cannot send your application to québec before your sponsorship is approved.
2)no, needs to be print outs, you can highlight the dates though
3) not for a spousal application
4) 1040 for CIC. when you get approved as a sponsor and send the forms to québec for the CSQ you`ll have to pay an additional 250$ to Québec.
5) this is not really necessary for a spousal application in general because there are no income requirements, and esp not for a québec application. you don`t need to option c printout that other applicants need. Provide a letter of what you intend to do once you return to Canada. Since you are living abroad you`ll also have to fill out a form saying you intend to move back.

hope that helps!
