So, Canada Post says we need to call the receiver, aka Mississauga. I'm having trouble finding a number with their visa office.

Yeah, good luck getting through using this number. They NEVER answer the phone there, but I had better luck calling 614-944 4000 and then following the prompts.

Well since you are the one who paid for the shipping, you do not need to call CIC mississauga. In any event of lost shipment the sender needs to initiate the inquiry with Canada post.Call Canada Post again and ask to escalate this matter and speak with a supervisor.

Same thing happened when I submitted my application, it was supposed to be a next day delivery. After checking 2 days later it still wasn't delivered. I called Canada post they said they will investigate and call back, after 24 hours they sent me proof of delivery and then I requested for a refund as well since it wasn't delivered within the time I paid for.[they sent a check couple of weeks later]

I know they say not to call about your package unless it has surpassed the processing times but Canada Post says that's the only way to confirm if they got it or not. Since their most recent update just says "Out For Delivery" still.

What is the other number for?


Yeah, Canada Post is already going to give us a refund. I guess I will call back. But how would they deal with it further than what they already told us?
The lady said that's all the information she knows.

It's also CIC. At least it lets you get past the ''all our arrogant and poorly trained agents are busy'' stage, although mind you, I had to wait for nearly 40 minutes to speak to someone. Unfortunately I cannot offer advice on how to deal with Canada Post, that's another whole different level of incompetence I'm afraid.

Usually when it says out for delivery it probably got delivered but the Canada post system hasn't been updated yet. I had the same issue and I asked to speak to a supervisor who told me he will get back bk to me in 24hrs. The next morning the system had been updated and I got an email with the signature image of the officer who signed for it.

Nothing surprises me with Canada Post. You can do your own part in tracking the package but continue calling Canada Post, everyday if you can and escalate it to the supervisor. If you aren't getting any results, email your complaint to the Canada post Ombudsman (phone #: 1-800-204-4198) and outline what steps you've taken to resolve it. Normally, the Ombudsman can't act if the ticket # for your case is still 'open' but filing the complaint regardless ensures that they will try to make inquiries(which alerts Canada post you are not going away quietly).
You may also want to get in touch with the Canada post outlet in Missisauga.

The things to emphasize are:
1) you paid them to deliver a service and provide proof of delivery - they haven't (it's not your job to get in touch with the receiver);
2) you need proof of delivery and will only accept a) delivery signature visible through your tracking # (may be impossible at this stage) or b) email confirmation obtained by Canada post from CIC which confirms delivery date, name of person who signed for it, etc;
3) the sensitive nature of the contents of the package - SIN, passport information, photos, etc which in the wrong hands can enable someone to assume your identity. Identity theft is a billion dollar industry so that's the value of your package;
4) ask that the canada post employee who sends you this proof should have their full name and contact information (phone #) whom you can call and speak to.

This is what I did and they got it done. I also got a full refund. Even months after, my tracking still shows "in sorting facility" and what I came to understand is my package was delivered but they didn't get a signature for whatever reason though I paid for that option.

Here's a big tip (speaking from my own experience, caz our documents vanished too, so I called them a lot), when you hear that they have a high number of calls and then get disconnected, simply keep trying...! In average, it took me 13 to 15 tries (within a 5-7 minute span) before getting through. Give it a try....you will reach someone eventually!! =)
