Hi there! I have just submitted my Indian husbands application Jan 4,2013 to CIC Miss. I am a born and raised Canadian. Really really hoping this process is not lengthy?

somewhere i read a post that said you must submit the medical exam , the writter tried to explain that not instructions were given - anyhow also we did not submit medical exam as the specific intructions from the CIC site would not specify how to contact a Panel Physician please note the form is imm1017 ..... and oops i cannot post the link to this information :( lovely.... anyhow it specifically states that they will inform you when to proceed with a medical exam (for India)

Question: wondering if anyone has been successful at receiving a TRV for the interm period while waiting for PRV?

Hi there, maybe you got confused with the instructions for TRV medicals which are to be done only after receiving the request from the embassy?

To avoid delaying the issuance of the PR visa, your husband should have done his medicals upfront. See this excerpt from the document checklist included in CIC's India-specific instructions:

“7. PROOF OF MEDICAL EXAMINATION
Include for yourself and each of your family members Copy 1 of the Medical Report - Client Biodata and Summary (IMM 1017), signed and provided by the panel physician on your medical exam appointment.”

Here is the list of panel physicians in India:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/dmp-md/medicalinfo.aspx?CountryID=1995&CountryName=India

CIC Mississauga may send your whole package back to you requesting that the exam be done and that you send them copy 1 of IMM 1017 - or you may get lucky, sponsor approval may be processed, and the issue may not come up until stage 2 when Delhi begins their processing and they would then send you the request to get the medical done. That will still entail a delay but it's less frustrating than getting your entire application returned from Mississauga.

And in response to your last question, yes, a few Indian applicants have been able to get TRVs after sponsor approval (stage 1 complete), but it's rare. I know of only 2 successful cases. Still, don't hesitate to try especially if your husband can demonstrate strong ties to India, but don't get your hopes too high either.

You can join the Delhi forum for more advice and to keep company with fellow travellers on your PR journey :)

Good luck.

It seems like that you got the information and requirements for different types of visa mixed.
