Thank you!

My wife and I flew to Canada together and when we got to Pearson after following the long queue to customs, I went through the Canadian line and my wife proceeded to the "all other passports" line. When my wife reached the counter they wrote a bunch of stuff on her declaration card that neither of us understood. The officer asked my wife a few questions like what food items she had as we packed a whole lot of Indonesian instant coffee and tea so she declared she had food items on her card. She then put a squiggly line through the visa in my wife's passport and stamped the entry stamp with date on a separate page. As she came through the customs area past the desks on the left where another officer asks to see your declaration card there is a separate room for immigration. My wife and I went in there and as there was no line we were immediately called to a counter. There the officer took my wife's passport and COPR and asked a couple questions like how long we have been married, whether I was over in Indonesia with my wife, and the address of my wife's final destination. It was very easy going and then officer asked if she had ever been convicted of a crime or it she had any undeclared dependants and circled no on the COPR where it asks that. Then my wife signed the COPR and she stamped the date my wife became a PR and folder and stapled one copy into her passport and that was it!

congrats Richard Lin!

Sounds like your file is going well with the background check. Hopefully you'll get passport request soon.

Faster processing times for spouses and partners

On December 7, 2016, the Government announced that most spousal sponsorship applications will be processed within 12 months from the day they are received by IRCC. This represents a significant decrease from the 26-month processing time in 2016. IRCC will finish processing the majority of applications currently in the system by the end of December 2017.

A new application kit was also launched on December 15, 2016, which is simpler and easier to understand and use.

These changes apply to all applicants, whether they are in the outside-Canada family class or the spouse or common-law partner in-Canada class. More than 64,000 applicants are expected to benefit from these changes within the first year.

The Government is doing this by:

increasing funding to bring down the backlog and reduce processing times;
welcoming more spouses, partners and dependent children to Canada through increased admissions space in the annual immigration levels plan; and
processing cases faster, while maintaining program integrity. All applications will continue to receive full criminality, security and medical screening.
These important changes will help ease some of the uncertainty faced by Canadian citizens and permanent residents and their spouses and partners being sponsored for permanent residence.

These changes are great but more transparency and customer service in the process would be surely welcomed.

Can't understand why my application still in the eligibility stage while others in Vietnam that applied afterwards got interviewed already or approved. I've seen some get interview request within 2 months after files transferred to Singapore. Than there's some that got approved in 5 months.

If my wife's application has concerns they should send an interview by now. But it's just collecting dust for last 6 months on eligibility recommended pass and a little transparency why they are not working on moving onto next stage would be great.

i didnt receive ny email like this. what shud i do now?

It was 7 days from when I submitted until I got confirmation. Have you called cic Mississauga? That would be my next suggestion

cic mississauga doesnot respond wid the calls.

can u describe for me the procedure. did u use IRCC webform to upload the receipt?

oh yes i got that

So after phone call interview that I got from the SVO on 28 December 2016, a few hours after my interview I got email requested for re-Medical Check Up, Police Record and the updated IMM 5669 form. I did re-medical on 9 January 2017 and we sent through FedEx all of the documents that they need. My husband also submitted the scan version of all of those documents and upload it to CSE. Today I checked the tracking number and it says that the document is delivered already. My husband checked the myCIC and saw that our medical passed already! and we just notice something that actually we could upload all of those documents in the myCIC website which is a lot faster because after we upload the documents using myCIC the "Review of Submitted Documents" changed into "Provided" (before we uploaded those documents it wast still said "We need an additional document from the applicant")

And also one more thing, in 19 December 2016 we requested for the GCMS notes and we just got the GCMS Notes today. In that notes I can see what the officer wrote about the interview that they had with me last 28 December 2016. The officer satisfied with all of my answers and they wrote that our relationships genuine, eligibility passed.

Now its time to get a cup of tea, a piece of cake, sit back, relax because waiting game isn't over yet :D ;D
