Thanks again, that's good news.

Do you think the immigration officer (upon arrival) will require her to have a return flight ticket? In other words, if she arrives on a one-way ticket, and tells the officer she is here to visit her husband for 6 months, and will apply for an extension...would there be any problems with this?

While I don't suggest giving false information to the officer. I wouldn't even mention the extension at that point. They might require a return flight, however, if she is just coming to visit you and see what Canada is like (keeping in mind that overstaying her welcome in Canada could jeopardize her PR application) - she might only need to show her ability to purchase a ticket to return home.

Hi,

Singapore received our application on April 1, 2013 and CIC website status still shows "Application Received".

Thanks, this is helpful...although disheartening....helpful.

Hello Canoyon,

You are probably right. However I honestly thought that after truthfully explaining everything -there should not be any doubt. After all there is no law that forbids me from falling in love with and marrying my cousin. Hopefully the interview will clear everything.

Dear shawnarcher,

I have also married my cousin, but I haven't applied yet. Are you sure marrying a cousin is the red-flag in your case? Why don't you quickly order gcms notes and find out the officer's comments?

Unfortunately marrying a cousin is seen as a major red flag...this is only due to the fact that in the past there has been cases where ppl married cousins just for immigration purposes.....so a interview makes sense now..but genuine cases will definately pass thru :) so dnt worry

Thanks Diyabrar. Since our case is genuine I am very hopeful. As long as the interview is fair - nothing to worry I guess. Only issue is the damned waiting time.

Only advise would be to start collecting as much evidence/proof as possible for example: skype/facebook & call logs
Visit you spouse atleast once every 6 to 8 months or soo...
These thing helps a lot...

Yeah that's good advice. I am not sure about 6 to 8 months - but definitely once a year. Plus the logs, pics etc.

Do not worry about the time only thing you have to wait with stress. So far i saw interview takes place Dhaka Canadian High Commission once a year around between Nov to Feb. So average wait time is 8-12 months. after a successful interview takes another 2-3 months to complete process.

Most of the time when ECAS shows IN PROCESS on Applicant side mean no interview. Since your wife received back all the evidences and supporting documents ECAS shows in process could be your sponsor is under investigation. Could be a reason since your wife is your cousin.
Is your wife your first cousin? if no your could say them your wife is no relative could avoid that suspicious.
I could be wrong, i said from my thought.

To know better apply for GCMS notes.

Thanks Mirjahan. ECAS continues to show application received. I will order the notes as soon as I get the consent. On the contrary I declared it right away that we are cousins. Was 100 % truthful in the application. So hopefully the interview should be positive.

Hi all!

I have just received final message from Singapore to let us know that my husband's Permanent residency has been approved!
In total, it has only been a little over 6 months since we've sent the application...We are super excited! So quick!
Now do you guys know how long it usually takes to have the passport delivered?

Thanks!

6 months is about the fastest I've ever seen through Singapore. Singapore received your file about 2 months after they received mine and I'm still Application Received. So, you're a lucky one! Congratulations. I think once they receive your passport, it's usually delivered back to you within 3-4 weeks.

Received interview date, 03/03/2014 in Ho chi minh city.....finally!

Very nice QPH. Still waiting for medical instructions to be sent :(

This VO I have is giving me the full time treatment. Had interview and no news until I requested case specific inquiry. Says medical instructions to be sent soon and still nothing. I am just hoping it is due to New Years and no one is working. May 2011 Singapore received application and it is now Feb 2014. Almost 3 years!

Dear Dragoon,

Can you please tell me why you were required to have the interview? I mean what were the exact reasons?
