SIN issue

Hi All,
I visited service canada to get SIN however due to system issue (not working properly) they asked me to fill in the form to get SIN and asked me to wait for 4-6 weeks and they will mail it to my Canadian address.. They provoded me acknowledgement that i have applied for SIN..I need to go back to india.. Can i go back without SIN.. What if SIN is dispatched via mail and noone informed me or i lost it . What should i do to get it now before i leave.

Yes. You can leave Canada without SIN. If SIN mail is lost then you can use acknowledgement paper to contact Service Canada to get your SIN no. once you are back.
