Hi,

My situation is as follows:

- I am a Masters student (and employee as a researcher) at UBC with a study permit (and SIN) with an expiration date of November 30;

- My anticipated graduation date is December 31;

- I have a Ph.D. offer (and employee as a researcher) from U of T, starting January 1.

Now my question is regarding the new study permit and SIN. I plan to get a study permit for my doctorate admission. I have a few options:

- To first extend the current permit to Let's say April, then go to Toronto, then change the DLI, and apply for SIN and a new study permit;

- To submit both applications (i.e., the extension of current and a new one for the new admission) at the same time (not sure if this is possible);

- To first submit and get the extension of current SP, and then apply for the new one (might not be a good idea as there are only 5.5 months left till January, so not sure if I can get the new study permit on time);

- Anything else you might think of.

Whilst you think, please also consider the following points:

- It is 1% possible that my studies here at UBC takes up to January, and I can go to Toronto in January or February;

- Application for SIN, which makes me a legal employee of either university. I am not familiar with how they work.

Best,
A
