Your COPR expiry is usually tied to your medicals. Medicals expire one year after they were done. CIC can extend the medicals if they are close to expiring.
If your medicals are expiring, then CIC will either extend them, or ask you to do new ones. When you get your COPR, there will be an expiry date on it.

For me the expiring date was the expiring date of my pasport and was 5 months after I've got my copr. I thought there would come a pasport request for a visa so I was waiting till there was A pasport request that I never got. I landed in Canada about 2 months before my pasport expired and renewed my pasport when I was in Canada already. The online downside was that I had to go to Montréal and I live in Calgary.

Oh yes, that is a long way to just to go and renew your passport. But luckily that was the only downside! I won't have to worry about getting my CoPR for some time anyway, so I'll just sit and wait. Thank you very much for your answer!

My medicals would have been expired 1 month after my pasport expired. I never have heard they entend the medicals, but maybe someone else knows someone with extended medicals.
