Hi guys,

I had my oath ceremony recently, got my certificate, but made a silly mistake - on the cit 0049 - (Oath or Affirmation of Citizenship form), i signed in both places (where i was supposed to sign and where the officer/judge was supposed to sign). I called cic and I got conflicting answers from their agents, 2 of them told me I shouldnt worry and cic will contact me if theres any issues and 2 of them told me i need to send a letter explaining the incident).

Its bothering me and im not sure what to do - it makes sense that if theres any issues they will contact me themselves when processing the forms, so is it really necessary to send the letter? I feel like it will just be making the matter more complicated.

What do you guys suggest?

I would suggest to wait. If there is any issue, they'll contact you.

thanks, b52shot. One of the officers who told me to send a letter took down my file number and looked at my details before telling me that. Is it possible he may have added some kind of note to my file and that is the reason he says I must send the letter?

If you don't want to be confused with multiple different answers, don't call CIC more than once. Did they give you your citizenship certificate? If so, I wouldn't worry about it. Go get a passport....
