So, I'll count 1096 day on July 20, at which time I intend to print and sign my application. But I also intend to mail it that very same day. Would that ring any alarm bells...?

Nothing wrong with that as long as you don't sign it on day 1095.

If you were out of country it is recommended to apply with a buffer of extra days.. 1-2 weeks would be good

Funny how I move my application date by one week and the physical residence count increments only by 2 days, due to the 4-year time window :D. I guess for buffer one would have to wait a month at least... Since these are precarious times and I've verified all my entry/exists from my records, I suppose I'll go on the 20th... This is one hell of a process...!

I would still wait a week or two. Why are you rushing?

C-24? You never know what the Tories will do next. They have been known to suddenly turn around an entire process in favor of a new one...

I dont know what to tell you. If that makes you feel better then go for it. I have been arguing for weeks now that this bill when/if passed will not be implemented for a while. CIC has confirmed it will not be applied to this years applicants and it will take effect next year. Many people here called CIC and they confirmed it again (I know you wanna tell me CIC call centre isnt a reliable source). So go for it apply if you feel more secure this way, hope you dont get an RQ.
