I need some clarification regarding family information in a previous PR application.
My brother-in-law came to Canada in 2016. My sister later came on spousal open work permit, and they both applied for Permanent Residence together as a family. They are now Canadian citizens.
I arrived in Canada in 2023, and I am currently preparing to apply through the Express Entry program. Before submitting my profile, I want to ensure that my name was properly declared in my sister’s PR application under family members (siblings), as required.
To confirm this, my brother-in-law has submitted an ATIP (Access to Information and Privacy) request to retrieve their PR file. However, I am confused about what information the ATIP request will actually provide.
My questions are:
If anyone has experience with ATIP requests or similar situations, your guidance would be greatly appreciated.

- Will the ATIP request retrieve all forms and documents submitted with their PR application?
- Will it include IMM 5406 (Additional Family Information) or any other form where parents and siblings are declared?
- Will I be able to clearly verify from the ATIP file whether my name was included in my sister’s application?
- Also, should my name have been mentioned in my sister’s spousal open work permit application as well, or is declaring siblings only required at the PR stage?
