Showing money in bank?

What is the deal with having to show a certain amount of money in the bank for PR applications? Does everyone applying through the caregiver route have to do that? Are there any exceptions?

They want to make sure people have enough money to support themselves while they look for a job in Canada. The caregiver programs are generally excepted as applicants are already required to have jobs or job offers in Canada.

OK. Thank you. My nanny started with us in October of 2018 and wants to apply for PR. How do I know which program she does? And, since she is here already, I assume she doesn't need to show the proof of funds?
