I'm applying under NOC 5122 category, as a book editor and here's my work experience.

Editorial intern at book publishing company (6 months): *letter from HR with job responsibilities/wage * tax return

Editorial assistant at book publishing company (1.5 years): *Letter from HR without duties listed, but salary/benefits. *Letter from co-worker on company letter with duties. *Tax returns

Assistant Editor at book publishing company (5 years): *Letter from HR with job duties/salary/benefits. *Pictures of book covers with me credited for editing said book. *Tax returns

Editor at book publishing company (1.5 years): *Letter from HR with job responsibilities/salary/benefits. *Job offer letter. *Pictures of book covers with me credited for editing book. *Tax returns

Freelance editor (2 years): *Letter from all clients on letterhead with fees and responsibilities *contracts for all projects *Tax returns and pay slips from all clients. *Pictures of books covers with my name as editor

In publishing you work towards becoming an editor so you don't get out of college and then become an editor immediately. Does this mean I can't count my internship and my time as an editorial assistant as work experience? I'm very confused.

I found that editorial assistants can apply under the category of NOC 1452. Do I need to include that in my ITA profile? I don't want to take credit for work experience that I can't. Sooo confused. Can anyone help?

you only need to show up to 3 years. the rest is pointless. you also only need the reference letter. so if you submit your 5 year experience (provided it's considered NOC A, B or 0 and if your reference letter shows all the information needed, you can just submit that

Just keep in mind you still need to meet FSW eligibility criteria (minimum 67 points on the six selection factors criteria). If you have 67+ points with only 3 years of work experience, then you are good to remove the rest.

Check here to make sure that you will meet the 67 point minimum requirement:

I think I do.
Education: I have a bachelor's and master's from the US, which has been verified by WES--23
English score of 8.5--24
Experience: for only 3 years--11 points ( I will aim low here)
Age: 36--11

As others have pointed out, you max out your CRS points with 3 years of foreign work experience.

As well, any experience that is not skilled, you should not include. NOC 1452 may be the correct NOC for editorial assistant, but it is classified as skill level C, unskilled - therefore you could not use it anyway. You can only use experience that is NOC level O, A, or B.

Your supporting documents look good, just a suggestion to replace the tax return with the W-2 if you can.

Sorry, they are W-2s. Not tax returns.
